| 2780: Remnants of the 38th Dragoons, 89th Dragoons, 90th Dragoons, 321st Hussars along with elements of the 173rd and 197th Mechanized Infantry Divisions are based on New Earth following the Liberation of Terra and the War Against the Usurper. Col. John Blackthorne of the 90th Dragoons is promoted to Lt. Gen. and given overall command of this task force. 2781: Units are transferred to Thorin to aid in recovery efforts there. 2784: Lt. Gen. Blackthorne attends the Feb. 14th Exodus meeting on New Earth. Returning to Thorin his units choose to remain in the Inner Sphere. Nov. 5th the bulk of the SLDF commences their Exodus. 2785: Oct. Unit takes the name "Blackhawks" and signs a mercenary contract with the Lyran Commonwealth. BattleMech regiments retain SLDF identities, other unit assets are reassigned to fill out the combined arms force. Assigned to garrison Montmarault in the Tamar Theater. 2787: Mar-Apr: Kurita raid repelled. 2788: Feb-Aug: 90th and 38th Dragoons provide reinforcement to LCAF garrison on La Grave. 2789: Oct-Nov: 89th Dragoon aid LCAF garrison on Rastaban. 2790: Jan.: New Kurita attack on Montmarault. Battle rages till Nov. Kurita units forced to withdraw. 2792: Blackhawks recieve permission to conduct raids into Combine territory. BattleGroups first organized. 'Mech regiments re-classified as Armored Cavalry Regiments. Oct-Dec: 89th and 321st Regiments attack Hainfield inflicting heavy damege to DCMS facilites and capturing substantial amount of supplies. 2793: Feb. 90th Dragoons raid Satalice. Mar. raids Scandia. Jun-Oct. 321st Hussare raid Heilingdreuz, Gunzburg and Voralburg. 2796: Intel reports large supply depot on Kempten. 90th Dragoons and 321st Hussars with the 38th Dragoons in reserve launch deep raid. After meeting heavier than expected resistance, the 38th is called in to help repel Kurita counter-attack. Large amounts of plunder is captured. Remaining supplies are destroyed. |

Feb.: Entire Blackhawks Brigade jumps into Periphery beyond Combine space. Mar. Sets up base of operations. Apr. Under the guise of "periphery bandits" small units of 'Mechs and hovercraft begin pirate style raids against Combine border worlds. Next two years spent raiding and disrupting infrastructure of Combine worlds. 2813: Mar. Blackhawks begin final phase of Operation Root Canal. Unit jumps via uninhabited star systems to move deep into Combine territory. Apr. Blackhawks launch full assault against provincial capital of Rasalhague taking defenders by surprise. Blackhawks strike industrial and military facilities taking equipment and supplies and inflicting heavy damage. Blackhawks raid additional Combine worlds en route back to Lyran space. 2814: Greatly impressed Archon presents Blackhawks with the Dragonslayer's Ribbon and the Unit Citation of Merit. Aug. Draconis Combine launches reprisal strike against Vulcan. Ferocious Kurita assault threatens to break the Blackhawks defense. After 14 months of hard fighting, Blackhawks turn tide of battle against Combine. 2816: Following two years of brutal combat the Blackhawks force Combine troops of Vulcan. Suffering nearly 70% casualties. the Blackhawks are transferred to Sudeten for rest and refit. |
