FEDERATED SUNS:
From it's inception the Tortuga Republic has maintained close ties to the Federated Suns, the Successor State closest to the Republic. The Blackhawks Armored Cavalry, which was intrumental to the formation of the Republic and remains the core of the Tortugan Military, was a longtime client of the Federated Suns over a century of mercenary service. This long term relationship led to a rapid diplomatic recognition of the fledgling republic by House Davion.
With the majority of the Tortuga Republic's immigrating population travelling through Davion space, a ready made interstellar trade network was quick to form between the the two states. The Tortuga Republic maintains strong economic ties with the Federated Suns through the export of raw materials and manufactured goods and the import of industrial goods and high technology as well as a continuing flow of migration from the Inner Sphere.
In the wake of the campaign to remove Word of Blake forces from Torugan space, bandit activity in this region of the Periphery has been nearly eradicated. Long a bane to the Periphery regions of the Fererated Suns, the reduction in bandit raids has enabled the Feredated Suns to focus a greater portion of its energy on other areas of threat. A military partnership treaty between the Federated Suns and the Tortuga Republic serves to further security for both realms as the Armed Forces of the Republic continue to root out pockets of bandit activity with financial and intelligence support from the Federated Suns.
